Over the past several decades, I’ve seen just about every side of orthopedic care—tennis injuries, knee surgeries, rotator cuff repairs, and the toughest recovery of all: an emergency that nearly cost me my leg. What’s carried me through each challenge is the unwavering care of the providers and staff at this practice.
I first met Dr. Gillogly after a serious accident where I put my leg through a deck. It was his first day in the ER at Cartersville Hospital, and he stayed with me for nearly five hours. He saved my leg that day and stayed by my side through the months of recovery that followed. It was a complicated case involving infectious disease and the risk of losing the joint entirely. Thanks to his commitment, and the coordination between his team, infectious disease specialists, and in-home PT, I eventually got back on my feet.
My family has seen nearly every provider here at some point and we just keep coming back. That kind of trust doesn’t happen overnight. It’s built through years of compassionate care, successful recoveries, and people who treat you like family.
I’ve had several surgeries here over the years—from shoulders to knees—and each recovery has been different. Some were more intensive than others, but the care and attention I received every time made all the difference. The front desk staff, especially Tammy, Lori, and Danielle, know me by name. PTs like Brigette (BB) and Janice have pushed me when I needed it most. Teresa, who answers the phones, has been helping me as long as I can remember. Allison, Dr. Gillogly’s MA, has also been an incredible support—she’s one of those people who makes you feel seen and heard, and she’s always on top of what you need. It truly feels like family here.
I’ve had surgeries where the recovery took longer than expected, and some that went right on schedule. But the thing I’ve learned is that healing takes dedication. Your providers can do everything right, but if you don’t follow through with PT, you won’t get your life back.
Now, at 73, I’m riding my bike, working with the homeless, playing with my grandkids, and hoping to get back to the tennis court soon. Every single one of these doctors and staff members gave me that chance and I’m grateful every day for the quality of life they’ve helped me hold onto.
